Been painting..

At least once a week, I get together with some guys from my figure drawing workshop to paint outdoors on location. We've had three outings so far, and it's been a really good time getting out and trying this outdoor 'plein air' painting thing. I have much to learn from them too!

Today we went to Balboa Island in Newport Beach, about a 40 minute drive from where we're at in Huntingon Beach. I take the Pacific Coast Highway all the way to Newport Beach, and stopping at all those traffic lights adds the most time to my drive. It is nice having a view of the ocean though.

I'm not too fond of how that boat in the foreground turned out. I think it looks crooked; it's seems to be sitting on a slant. I still figuring out the techniques. Water is not too easy to paint, and neither are trees.
