playin' catch up...

i make a mean grilled cheese sammich, but if you know me well, you know apart from the grilled cheese sammich skillz, i don't cook and am pretty helpless in the kitchen. so when it came to making pancakes this past weekend for my hubby's bday, i crashed and burned on presentation, but was surprisingly successful with delivery.. i went the easy route by using bisquick.. (add two eggs, some milk and stir). the toughest part was keeping the lil puddles of batter from merging together in the skillet... and then trying to flip 'em w/o landing outside the skillet..

(started out controlled, looked promising...)

friday was my last official day with academic superstore. it was weird not going to work monday morning. i still went, but they wouldn't let me in. so i went home to pack. just kidding. i did go, but only to pick up a few things i left at my desk friday, ie: my huge-ass, seriously embarrassing earphones. couldn't part from those guys.

saturday was nice and sunny, plus crazy windy. we bought a kite and flew it with all the other kite flyers at zilker. we even had a crash in the sky with our kite and another kite. the guy was super friendly when it came to separating our kite strings on the ground. i think we'll be down there again for the kite festival this sunday (i think its sunday).

(this is what i'd look like if i had a big ol' fin coming outta my arm..)

sat night bill, ash, xavi, and i we went over to green mesquite for some bbq and blue moons. green mesquite also makes a good grilled cheese sammich. you have to put in a special request since its only on the menu for the kiddos. we had a pretty lazy sunday. so lazy i dont remember anything. oh yeah, i made pancakes..

my parents do "meals on wheels" every monday, but with my dad being out of town so often, it's mostly my mom who drops off the meals with abby along for the ride. so after my INR test, my mom, abby, and i did "meals on wheels" together. as for the INR test, i tested pretty high again. the goal of the test is to hit a 2.5, but i've been hitting above 3.0. i will get my finger pricked in another two weeks and hopefully the results will be lower. doing meals on wheels with mama and abby was a blast. my mom's really gotten to know the people on her route. it was cool to see how involved she's gotten with this program. my thoughts and prayers went out to everyone i saw on the route. we checked their mail and chatted with them for just a few minutes, but then had to move on to the next stop. she's just the right person for this sort of thing--very personable and thoughtful.

our lil abby. she's my best friend.

packing's not been fun, but oh well. i've also been apt hunting and doing our homework to find the most economical way for us to get all our stuff to cali next month. i did get myself a little something today online. i am super excited about this! i'll share more later. pics to come!
